With Pi.ai restricting free access to its AI (see https://inflection.ai/the-future-of-pi) they are offering the ability to download our entire conversation history. Kin is by far the closest to Pi.ai in function, and there will likely be Pi users looking for a new companion.

Is this something the team is considering (both downloading text conversations and uploading them from other AIs)? It seems like the future of companion AIs will be to able to “take them with you” to different platforms by using conversation logs as training data.

    Agreeing with this post. I use Dot by New Computer, and there’s two hurdles for me to fully switch to Kin, one is image recognition, which I believe you’re already working on. The other is that I have a long conversation history with Dot, and it’s gotten to know me very, very well.

    Dot currently doesn’t have an option that will allow users to export both sides of the conversation, you can make a data request, where they will send you a CSV containing the messages you’ve sent to Dot, but not the messages Dot sent to the user. But I know from their Discord that they’re looking into expanding the data export ability, so this is something to look out for in the future for Dot users as well!

    Hi Michael,

    That’s a great idea, and something we’ve been discussing internally!

    What is your own experience with Pi vs Kin? From your perspective, when would Kin be ready to receive users from Pi (feature-wise etc.)? And do you have any good ideas of how to approach the Pi community with this in the right way (we also don’t want to come of as trying to “steal” their users)?
